Kolb's Learning System
Experience-based training and development is a learner-centered approach to human resources development and organizational change. Rather than presenting information as a teacher / expert, the facilitator, utilizing this methodology creates a situation inviting participants to discover their own answers to challenging day to day issues. The information provided and solicited by the facilitator challenges participants to take action, based upon their decisions.
Perhaps the most important point in defining experiential learning, is that the actions of the learner are followed by a reflective process (debriefing discussions) during which, insights generated from the challenges are related to the participants work situations.
OLR draws heavily from its deep understanding of the power of outdoor training and its symbiotic relationship with experiential learning.
